This pendant features fragments of amethyst-colored glass salvaged from Astoria’s sidewalks. Setting and chain are sterling silver.

Chain length: 18”, extendable to 20”
About Astoria’s historic sidewalk glass: After the great fire in 1922, Astoria had to completely rebuild the downtown area. Vaulted glass lights were installed in the sidewalks to illuminate the underground tunnels. The glass was originally colorless, but after decades of UV exposure the glass changed to an amethyst hue. In 2020, a building owner was having the damaged glass removed from the sidewalk and intended to throw it away, but I was able to salvage the fragments and turn it into a jewelry collection.
